Mark your calendars...Awesome FREE Children's Theatre..

I've seen tons of Theatreworks' plays and they are always excellent.  Come early as it's first-come-first-serve.  No strollers are allowed in the building.

This summer (July 20 - August 19, 2016), Theatreworks USA presents Junie B’s Essential Survival Guide to School.

Now that JUNIE B. JONES has been going to school for over one-and-a-half years, who better to write the book on everything you need to know? From bus rules to band aids, carpools to cookies, Junie B. and friends deliver the definitive word on surviving and thriving in style. With a jillion tips, tricks and trip-ups, Junie B. shares her hard-won expertise and shows us all how school is sometimes scary, sometimes super-fun, and ALWAYS something to sing about!

Geared for children in K-5th Grade (ages 5 to 11).

All performances are at:

The Lucille Lortel Theatre
121 Christopher Street
(between Bleecker Street and Hudson Street)

Super cheapskate move

If you are (stuck) buying a soda or ice tea at a bar or restaurant and they don't give you the can or bottle...order your drink without ice and ask for a separate glass of ice. Your drink will go two or three times as far.

Save-a-wad-of-money travel hack

I don't know about you, but I hate buying future garage sale items aka souvenirs. The prices for flimsy made, useless though expensive items that kids and adults alike feel compelled to purchase on vacation are astronomical.

If you must buy, then shop in unconventional places. Avoid "Souvenir Shops" at all costs. I've bought the same or better novelties for a fraction of the price of the tourist trap places at stores such as dollar stores and chain pharmacies and even big box stores.

Awesome travel hack

Travelling with kids?

If your kiddos like to take their shoes off when on long trips then this easy hack is for you. Once their shoes come off, stash them in a separate bag. No more scrambling for shoes when it's an emergency bathroom stop, lunch break, or when you finally arrive at your destination.

From first hand experience, I can attest that it makes getting in and out of the car a little less hectic.

We realize the school year has just ended and students are still looking for fun activities so please spread the word and encourage them to apply ASAP!

As the language of the future, programming can provide students with unlimited opportunities to create and innovate.

As our students have said: “I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with an experienced person as well as students who were new to coding to work together and learn the code”. - Arris, 11th Grade

“I feel like I came out learning something and that I can actively use what I learned to actually create something to put into the world. I'm excited to continue to teach myself coding with the online resources that were provided to me”. - Sarah, 12th Grade

Throughout the workshop, students work in small groups to receive personalized instruction. Students are also provided with lunch, an afternoon snack, and CodeNow giveaways. Public transit stipends are given to students who request it.

No prior programming experience is necessary - all we ask is that students come with the motivation to learn and make friends!

Growing food from trash

I'm regrowing celery from the root part of the stalk that is typically discarded. (Though I would add it to my broth bag and when it fills up with veggie goodness I would make vegetable broth from it.)

Just put the end of the stalk in some water for a few days and watch it sprout. Then once some roots grow, plant it in the soil. In about five months it can be harvested!!  Amazing!

Woo hoo. FREE food!
